Is the ACFT calculator still useful?

An ACFT calculator will not give you accurate AFT scores because the scoring tables and event list changed. Since the Standing Power Throw was removed and the point totals shifted from a 600 point scale to a 500 point scale, you need an AFT specific calculator or the official AFT scoring charts to get an accurate result. Old ACFT calculators are really only useful now for looking back at historical scores.

Do I need to retest under the AFT if I already passed the ACFT?

Yes, eventually. Since the AFT became the test of record on June 1, 2025, your next official record test will be scored under AFT rules. A passing ACFT score from before that date does not carry forward as a permanent pass. It only counted toward promotion points through September 30, 2025. Your unit will schedule your next AFT based on your normal testing cycle.

What replaced the ACFT?

The Army Fitness Test, or AFT, replaced the ACFT as the Army's official physical fitness test of record starting June 1, 2025. It keeps four of the six original events and drops the Standing Power Throw, while introducing separate general and combat scoring standards.

What is the passing score for the AFT?

Most soldiers need a minimum of 60 points in each of the five events and a total score of at least 300 points. Soldiers in one of the 21 designated combat specialties need the same 60 point minimum per event, but a higher total of at least 350 points, scored on a sex neutral scale.

Why was the Standing Power Throw removed?

Army data analysis, supported by research from the RAND Corporation, found the event carried a high risk of training injury relative to how much useful readiness information it actually provided. Removing it reduced injuries without significantly weakening the test's ability to measure combat relevant fitness.

Did the Leg Tuck come back under the AFT?

No. The Leg Tuck was already phased out in 2022 in favor of the Plank, before the AFT was created. The AFT continues using the Plank as its core strength and endurance event.
